Baby Mason: Four Months

My little chunker butt is 4 months old!!

Mason is a ball of personality. He cracks me up with his little facial expressions. His eyebrows are constantly going. Here you can see he has perfected the Blue Steel look.

He has also mastered multitasking - where he grabs one toy with his feet and the others with his hands. Although in this pic, he's only holding two toys, not all three.

Muffin has finally come around to liking him a little. She likes to lay with him on the couch sometimes. Bella still is very mothering. If he cries and we aren't immediately there, she'll either sit by him (usually in the crib) and meow loudly until one of us arrives to pick him up.

Stats: 15lb 1oz and 24.5 inches long (about 1.5 lb more and 1 inch longer since 3 weeks ago)
Eating: Still expressed breastmilk, although he's being so weird with how much he's eating. For about 3 weeks he was sucking down 4 oz at a time...and then all of a sudden this week he's been doing 3 to 3.5 again. I was trying to power pump once a day (it's a process that can take upwards of an hour to do - which is hard with a baby) to get my supply up, but now I don't think it's necessary.
Sleeping: *cries* Right after my last update, he started doing all of his naps in his crib. It was basically out of nowhere, he was fussy being held and in the bouncy, so I put him in the crib and that was that. Last weekend, he began sleeping in his crib at night. Again, out of nowhere, he wanted nothing to do with sleeping on me or next to me, just in his crib. His naps are still really short compared to what Matthew and Cami were doing at this age, but he sleeps well during the night. Since he switched to the crib he does 4 hour stretches from when he falls asleep - so around 8pm, he takes a bottle. Around 12 or 1am, he eats again. Then anywhere from 4 to 6am, he'll wake up for another. I can't complain - still a really good schedule.
Wearing: 3m and 3-6m clothing. He was peeing through his cloth diapers and I don't know if it was because he was eating so much in that few weeks where it was 4oz at a time or if they weren't fitting right, but I hope to try to get him back on them soon.
Personality: Mason is definitely the easiest of the three. He's calm and happy. He really doesn't fuss too much. Even when he's hungry, he really doesn't cry as much as whine for a few minutes. He loves to talk to anyone in the family, really. He especially loves to talk to Nick when Nick comes home and is telling me about his day at work. He's rotten and adorable.
Milestones: He's rolled over belly to back once. I can see him working to try and roll back to belly, but he's not quite there yet. He laughed real laughs a few days ago!! :) He's beginning to make sounds like "ba" "da" and "ma", which are all very exciting. It's a race to see which he says first: "mama" or "dada".

Likes:
  • His mimi
  • Sleeping with his big Muslin blankie
  • Chewing on his Muslin blankie
  • Laying down and being talked to
Dislikes:
  • Shots
  • Having a dirty dipe
The difference here makes me want to cry - he's getting so big. For reference, the top of his head is at the top of the arm of the couch.
