Synopsis:
The Changed are on the move. The Spared are out of time. The End...is now.

When her parents died, Alex thought things couldn't get much worse--until the doctors found the monster in her head.

She headed into the wilderness as a good-bye, to leave everything behind. But then the end of the world happened, and Alex took the first step down a treacherous road of betrayal and terror and death.

Now, with no hope of rescue--on the brink of starvation in a winter that just won't quit--she discovers a new and horrifying truth.

The Change isn't over.
The Changed are still evolving.
And...they've had help.

My Thoughts:
I got to 66% in this book. I really wanted to finish it despite having put the book down quite a few times to take a break from reading it because it was so frustrating. I just finished reading from Tom's perspective and I have NO clue what's going on or who half the people they are talking about are.

Here are my issues with Monsters:
- Too many perspectives. Alex, Ellie, Tom, Gary, Chris, Peter...
- Too many SWITCHES. You get like a page or two of one person's POV and then you are suddenly reading someone else's POV. Every time it switches POVs, you get a mini cliffhanger, which got REALLY annoying.
- Too many names. There are so many secondary characters...probably edging towards tertiary charcters, that I cannot even keep straight who is who, who did what, where they are, etc.
- About half of the characters are either dreaming, hallucinating, or having out of body experiences - so you never know what's actually a true event

I feel like I've been banging my head against a wall for the last week trying to decipher the plot and characters. I've read a good 400 pages and have no clue what's going on.  It makes me feel so frustrated because I loved Ashes, but was disappointed by Shadows and thought that Monsters would make up for that 2nd book syndrome and it didn't. It didn't even come close. I'm flipping through the pages really fast to see if I can find out what actually ends up happening because I really need a little resolution here. :/

*I received an ecopy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
