Synopsis:
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

My Thoughts:
Katy Swartz is a teenage bookworm/book blogger - whose widowed mother takes her out of her element in Florida to West Virginia. Without internet in the new house, Katy's mom encourages her to get out of the house and make friends. Katy decides to go to her second love (that she shared with her father): gardening. But first she needs supplies...she decides to ask the next door neighbor who happens to be a grade-A douchebag. Daemon Black is just absolutely horrificly rude. However, his sister, Dee, is amazingly sweet and takes to Katy immediately.

Katy notices the local townsfolk are very distant from Dee and her brother (other than all the girls crushing on Daemon). And that's just the beginning!

---------

I love the way the reveal unveiled. I love the way I absolutely hated Daemon and then kind of liked him by the end. Katy being a book blogger made me geek out a little.

I read some reviews of Obsidian comparing it to Twilight - I can see the parallels, but JLA wrote a much better version. Daemon immediately reminded me of Damon (of Vampire Diaries)...so I just pictured Ian Somerhalder as Daemon the whole time I was reading. Can't wait to read more of the Lux series and more of JLA!
