Synopsis:

My Thoughts:
I wish I hadn't waited so long to write up a review of this book because it really deserves a fresh, straight-from-finishing-the-book review. I LOVED this book. The writing is incredible - and the characters and world had me hooked instantly.

Kyra is a potioner, one whose potions are used for weapons, not beauty or any other silly use. She attempts to assassinate her best friend and heir to the throne, but fails. Not only is she now on the run, she is also trying to find her former best friend to finish what should have been a clean kill.

Honestly, the characters and magic really really make this story such an amazing one. Kyra is a kickass protagonist. I cannot emphasize that enough. Fred, a boy that she meets on the run, is hilarious, sweet, and lovable. I liked him instantly. Sweet little Rosie is a pig that Kyra gets from a criminal she had potioned during an interrogation - and while in real life I'm not big on pigs - Rosie was an essential part of the story and probably my most favorite character.

Overall, I wish I could gush more in depth, but it's been a few weeks since I finished and all the things I wanted to say are no longer in my brain :(
