Synopsis:
One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

My Thoughts:
Veronica Roth is a genius. I really think that's all that can be said about her and her writing. I read this in 2 days.

The book starts off right where Divergent ended, Tris, Tobias/Four, Marcus, Caleb, and Peter are on the train to Amity headquarters. I don't really want to go into the plot too much because there are so many twists and turns that I feel like everything would be a spoiler.

More was clarified of each faction and more was said as to each "downfall" on having a particular, specific personality. I found it pretty interesting to get a glimpse into Amity, which wasn't really done in the first book. You see their willingness to be peaceful sometimes turns into apathy when it concerns the well-being of society as a whole. It was interesting to see the Dauntless be split into two, much like Tobias/Four explained the difference between him and Eric in Divergent.

I liked how Roth was more realistic with the conflict between Tris and Tobias. It wasn't just a kiss and make up like most conflicts between couples in YA books. It was true to the environment they were living, true to what it would be like in the real world.

I'm really excited for the finale of this trilogy (it's a trilogy, right?) - I've seen a few guesses for the title: Convergent, Resurgent, etc. I am excited to know if the conspiracy is fact!
